This tiny side table (or maybe even bedside table) was another freebie from my friend. It was well used and needed a good sanding but after I sanded the top it just didn't look right with the colors I'd chosen for the legs. So I painted the top instead.
I have no idea why I wanted to put a Cafe logo on it... but I did anyway. I think I just wanted to see if I could paint this logo. It was fairly involved and my first attempt at something so detailed.
I painted it with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint -- paris gray and bright white (two coats) -- and sanded it baby smooth with 400 grit sandpaper. Which ended up slightly distressing it.

I found the logo on the internet and transferred it using my Graphite Paper Method.
I spray painted the one piece of hardware (the drawer pull) with a "bronze" Spray paint.
When I was all done, I waxed it with Annie Sloan clear wax.
Following is the progression of the table. :)

And there you have it - before / after.
Unfortunately this poor table really has no use in my house... It's been relegated to the corner of the dining room and gets piled on with the daily mail. So I suppose that's some sort of function. I should probably find it a home. Maybe I'll use it as a guest nightstand at some point (if my kids ever move out and I actually have a guest room...) lol

**Update**
After my bedroom makeover I finally had a place for this end table to call home. It's now my nightstand. I decided to change the boring knob on the front to something more unique - and with a color that matched better. I found these cute knobs at Hobby Lobby. I thought two worked fine (and I didn't have to do any rehab on the face of the drawer - if I'd switched it to a one knob I would have been puttying and sanding and painting.) So now it looks like this:
